Each status indicates where a transaction sits in its lifecycle. Understanding statuses helps you communicate accurately with customers, identify issues early, and maintain accurate reconciliation records.
Status Reference
PENDING
What it means: Invoice created and awaiting customer payment. No funds have moved yet.
Customer funds: No
Action required: Share the payment link with the customer. Monitor until payment or expiration.
Operational impact: No balance impact. Invoice expires after 12 hours if unpaid.
Next step: Wait for customer payment or invoice expiration.
CONFIRMING
What it means: Payment transaction detected on blockchain. Waiting for required network confirmations.
Customer funds: Yes — on-chain but not yet finalized.
Action required: None. System updates automatically once confirmed.
Operational impact: Do not fulfill order until status becomes PAID.

PAID / COMPLETED
What it means: Payment confirmed on blockchain and credited to your Niftipay balance.

EXPIRED
What it means: 12-hour payment window passed without receiving payment.

FAILED
What it means: Payment processing encountered an error or the transaction was rejected.

UNDER REVIEW
What it means: Transaction flagged for manual review due to risk indicators.
Customer funds: Yes — funds received but held pending review.
Action required: Wait for review completion. Do not fulfill order until status updates.
Operational impact: Funds held. Order fulfillment delayed until review complete.
Next step: Monitor status. Contact support if review takes longer than 24 hours.
UNDERPAID
What it means: Payment received but below the required amount. May receive multiple underpaid events as more funds arrive.
Customer funds: Partial — less than required amount received.
Action required: Contact customer to send the remaining amount, or issue a partial refund.
Operational impact: Order incomplete until full amount received or resolved.
Next step: Await additional payment or initiate resolution with customer.
REFUNDED
What it means: Payment was returned to the customer after a refund request.

CHARGEBACK

Troubleshooting
Stuck on CONFIRMING too long?
Check the blockchain explorer using the transaction hash. During network congestion, Bitcoin confirmations may take longer than usual. Email support@niftipay.com if the transaction shows confirmed on the explorer but has not updated in Niftipay.
Order shows FAILED but customer claims payment was sent?
Request the transaction hash from the customer. Verify on the blockchain explorer that funds were sent to the correct address in the correct amount. Contact support with these details.
UNDER REVIEW — what now?
Do not fulfill the order until the status changes. Review typically completes within 24 hours. Contact support if the review is urgent or exceeds 48 hours.
